SOUND BITES 4.0 the Fourth Annual 10-Minute Musical Theatre Festival is Extending Submissions Deadline to November 1st

Theatre Now New York has announced it is extending its online submissions for SOUND BITES 4.0, a 10-minute musical theatre festival and benefit, now through Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Midnight. The festival offers composers, lyricists, and librettists the opportunity to showcase their work in front of theatre-goers and industry professionals.

SOUND BITES is the first-ever 10-minute musical theatre festival that accepts both 10-minute musicals and 10-minute excerpts of larger musicals. Any 10-minute piece that can be performed and includes music qualifies. The selected scripts will be presented live onstage in New York as well as compete for festival awards and for the chance to receive further development.

Theatre Now New York will select ten finalists to present their pieces to an audience of industry professionals and celebrity judges. Each musical will compete for Festival Awards and for the inclusion into future programs with the creative team of Theatre Now New York. SOUND BITES 4.0 offers a unique opportunity for talented writers, composers, and lyricists to showcase their work publicly in front of a live audience.

SOUND BITES 3.0, the Third Annual Festival of 10-Minute Musicals received a record breaking amount of submissions and attracted a sold-out audience. At Sound Bites 3.0, Gorgonzola took home five awards including Best Musical, Best Lyrics (Gregory Bonsignore), Best Music (Nolan Livesay), Best Actress (Patti Perkins) and Best Actor (Cory Conley), making Gorgonzola the highest-awarded show in SOUND BITES history. Best Direction went to Jonathan S. Cerullo for Fictitious and A Cappella Love received the Audience Choice Award.

Theatre Now New York Artistic Director, Thomas Morrissey, has helped develop and produce new plays and musicals including the East Coast Premiere of Kingdom, the world premiere of The Last Sunday in June, and the East Coast Premiere of The Break-Up Notebook. Stephen Bishop Seely, Literary Manager of Theatre Now New York and Producer of Sound Bites, has helped develop several Off-Broadway and Broadway shows including Disney's Tarzan, Rock Wilk's Broke Wide Open, Rock Wilk's Brooklyn Quartet, and 8 Million Protagonists.

Theatre Now New York is a theatre company that facilitates the creation and development of new theatrical works, the reimagining of previously produced known titles and the reinterpretation of classic works through readings, productions, workshops and work-in-progress presentations and to promote the understanding and appreciation of Live Theatre and its process by the general public. TNNY provides opportunities for emerging, mid-career and established theatre professional in their ongoing creative process.
