The Russian American Foundation is pulling out all the strings when it proudly presents the renowned Russian puppet theater, The S.V. Obraztsov Puppet Theater of Moscow, to American audiences for the first time. The show, which is suitable for families with children 13 and over, will present its renowned puppet production of "An Extraordinary Concert", on Saturday, June 21 at 8:30pm and Sunday June 22 at 8:00pm at the 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Ave, NYC. This special engagement will be presented in English for an American audience.

Sergey Vladimirovich Obraztsov, became the godfather of the Russian theater movement in the early 20th Century. It was Obraztsov who first elevated the craft of puppetry to the level of an art form. In 1931, Obraztsov became the first Director of The State Central Puppet Theatre of Moscow during which time he created over 70 puppet plays for children and adults.

An Extraordinary Concert, first presented in 1946, is a hysterical satire of inept concert performers, and is one of the company's most renowned pieces. An Extraordinary Concert is a performance that will thrill 21st Century audiences today as it has for past generations.

So watch those strings come alive as the celebrated Russian puppets bring down the house on 92nd Street with laughter.

The Russian American Foundation was founded to encourage interest and understanding of Russian heritage in the US as well as to promote reciprocal awareness in American customs and culture among global communities in the former Soviet Union.
