Lincoln Center Theater's Platform Series, a forum for public discussion between Lincoln Center Theater artists and interested theatergoers, will continue its 2007-2008 season on Wednesday, May 7, at 6:00 pm with a pre-performance talk with the award-winning playwright, Paul Rudnick, whose play The New Century, recently opened to critical acclaim at the Mitzi E. Newhouse.  The New Century is directed by Nicholas Martin and features Peter Bartlett, Jayne Houdyshell and Linda Lavin.

Platform Series events take place between the matinee and evening shows on Wednesdays, from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm, in the lobby of the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street).   Admission is free and open to all; however, seating in the lobby is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis only, beginning at 5:30 pm. (Speakers and schedules are subject to change.  Call 212-362-7600 to confirm on the day of the event.).

Paul Rudnick's plays have been produced both on and off Broadway and around the world.  His most recent work was Regrets Only at Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Christine Baranski and George Grizzard.  His other plays include Valhalla, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, I Hate Hamlet and Jeffrey, for which he won an Obie, an Outer Critics Circle Award and the John Gassner Playwriting Award.  His novels are Social Disease and I'll Take it, both published by Knopf.  His articles and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, Vogue, Vanity Fair and The New York Times.  His is rumored to be quite close to Premiere Magazine's film critic, Libby Gelman-Waxner, whose collected columns have been published under the title If You Ask Me.  His screenplays include Addams Family Values, the screen adaptation of Jeffrey and In & Out.

Lincoln Center Theater's Platform Series was introduced in the summer of 1998.  Transcripts of the previous talks are available on-line at www.lct.org.
