2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the start of Jones' recording career, which exploded in 1979 with her self-titled debut album and its top 10 hit, "Chuck E.'s in Love." Jones had an immediate impact on pop culture, with a legendary SNL appearance and a Rolling Stone cover - and a Grammy for Best New Artist. For three decades - and three generations - her distinctive voice and songs remain instantly recognizable.
Jones' new album, Balm in Gilead, due out November 3rd, is an extraordinary collection of emotionally powerful and endearing songs, many of which have been ‘incubating' with Jones over the last several decades.
