Manhattan Oracles' members Liz Amberly, Chris Cragin Day, James McGuire, Robin Rothstein and Brian Quirk are the featured playwrights in this breezy and eclectic evening of new and published short works. These five talented writers have been produced Off-Broadway and regionally and have won, or been named finalists for, The Heideman Award (Actors Theatre of Louisville), The Samuel French Short Play Festival, The Jane Chambers Playwriting Award and The Mabou Mines Residency Suite. Their writing can also be found in "Best Of" anthologies published by Samuel French, Heinemann and Smith & Kraus.

This evening's program of new and published short pieces will include:

MILKING SUCCESS by Chris Cragin Day
A comedy that exposes both the joys and horrors of a young artistic team's first big success.

BLUEBERRY WALTZ by Liz Amberly
A tender drama between a husband and wife one week after the husband's near-fatal accident in a Pennsylvania coal mine.

LOSING CONTROL by Robin Rothstein
A dark comedy about how far two men are willing to go for a piece of prime New York City real estate.

STRANGERS by Brian Quirk
An edgy solo performance piece examining the disconnect between who we really are and how we want to be seen.

TEXAS FUNERAL by James McGuire
An irreverent, off-beat comedy about family un-togetherness.

Manhattan Oracles is a playwright-run workshop that focuses on the development of new plays and is comprised of a group of writers whose work has been produced, published and honored. The Arthur Seelen Theatre is located in the The Drama Book Shop at 250 West 40th Street, between 7th and 8th Avenue in New York City. For more information on this FREE event, please visit www.dramabookshop.com, or call The Drama Book Shop at (212) 944-0595. No reservations are necessary.
