Popular stage and screen performer Raul Esparza has officially been promoted to series regular on the long running NBC crime procedural LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT following frequent appearances throughout the previous season of the long-running series.

Esparza was represented on eleven of last season's episodes playing assistant district attorney Rafael Barba and will assumedly appear on as many if not more of the new season, the fifteenth for the hit series to date.

Additionally, Esparza portrays a recurring character on another dark NBC series, Hannibal - that of psychiatric specialist Dr. Frederick Chilton - and, now that that on-the-bubble series has been picked up for a second season the possibility for the versatile actor to be on both series simultaneously is a distinct reality we could see come to fruition this Fall.

Of course, Esparza can currently be seen onstage in the Encores! production of THE CRADLE WILL ROCK at City Center, running through July 13. More information is available at the official site here.
