Tony Award-winning playwrights David Rabe (Hurlyburly, Sticks and Bones), John Guare (Six Degrees of Separation, The House of Blue Leaves), playwright Larry Kramer (The Normal Heart) and JoAnne Akalaitis (former Public Theater producer and a founder of the Mabou Mimes) will gather on Wednesday, November 9th for an event called Reliving Incendiary Moments in Public Theater History.

The evening will last from 7 to 8:30 PM with a reception to follow.  Ken Auletta, a noted author and New York columnist, will moderate the discussion of theatrical moments that have helped to make the Public Theater one of the most discussed theatres in the country for fifty years.

"The Public Theater has often been a staging ground for cultural and political history, from Joe Papp's notorious public battle with Robert Moses to the premiere of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart (the longest-running show in the Public Theater's history).  Join us for a rousing discussion with these fascinating history-makers," according to press notes.  The event will be presented in partnership with El Museo del Barrio.

The PublicTALKS is a year-long series of cross-disciplinary dialogues and debates with Public Theater actors, writers, and directors, joined with journalists and cultural commentators that will explore different dimensions of the theater's history.

An extremely limited number of tickets are still available.  Reservations are required, and can be made at 212-260-2400.  The Public is located at 425 Lafayette Street.
