Whatsonstage.com is furthing speculation first reported by BroadwayWorld on May 4 that Sting may be bringing an autobiographical musical to Broadway in the near future. It was reported then that the singer/songwriter is collaborating with Next to Normal's Brian Yorkey on the project, which is believed that it is inspired by Sting's memoir, Broken Music. No word on whether or not the score would be original.

The singer/songwriter now tells the UK Sunday Times that he is in fact working on a musical, but provided no other production details.

This would not be Sting's first foray into musical theater. in 1989 he starring in the Threepenny Opera at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre as Macheath. He is, of course, best known for his participation in the band, The Police, and subsequent solo career. Brian Yorkey won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, in addition to the 2009 Tony Award for best score for his musical, NEXT TO NORMAL.

Sting will be in New York City this week with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, performing some of his staples, including Roxanne, Everything Little Thing She Does Is Magic, and Every Breath You Take from the Police, in addition to some of his solo singles.
