R.Evolucion Latina, the new non-profit launched within the dance and Broadway niche this year, announced today that they will be hosting their First Annual DARE TO GO BEYOND Children's Performing Arts Camp. The camp will be held Thursday, August 28th through Sunday, August 31st at different locations through out the NYC area. Luis Salgado, R.Evolucion Latina's Director and Founder, is at the helm of this movement and has gathered a team of Broadway professionals to lead classes for children ages 5-19. Stars from Step Up 2 the Streets, In the Heights, FAME, Chicago, The Lion King, Movin' Out, and more will donate their time and skills during the camp.

"R.Evolucion Latina has significantly grown in just 8 months, and not only have we successfully implemented over 12 events, but we've also aligned ourselves with the highest echelon of non-profit organizations, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS; and this only makes us stronger in our mission to give back," stated Salgado. "The summer camp is the monumental beginning of what we're going to accomplish for our communities by using 'art' as our tool and voice."

The R.Evolucion Latina organization is made up of dedicated performers and activists and is considered one of the new-age non-profits in the dance world. Their motto, DARE TO GO BEYOND, allows them to differentiate themselves from other non-profits by spreading inspiration towards others. The message therefore multiplies, and intrinsic value is bestowed upon those that come into contact with the individuals from the group.

"In this fast-paced world, it is imperative, especially as performers, that we dare ourselves to go beyond…because when we do that…anything can happen," exclaimed Michael Balderrama, Director, R.Evolcion Latina.

Other notable activists include Gabriela Garcia (Co-Director), Rogelio Douglas, Lin Manuel Miranda, Robin DeJesus; even Axel Serrant, a guest that has flown all the way from Puerto Rico just to teach at this first performing arts camp.

"I will do anything to be a part of something that will grow the Latino heritage; especially with leaders like Luis Salgado. These artists understand that being a celebrity on the stage can allow you to give to the community in so many new ways. R.Evolucion Latinais an Evolucion!" Axel Serrant, Guest Teacher, DARE TO GO BEYOND camp.

Sponsors for the camp include: Ballet Hispanico, Broadway After Dark, Broadway Dance Center, Capezio, DANCE-OPOLY, Steps on Broadway and www.tonylovers.com. The Camp will take place at Ballet Hispanico (Manhattan), The Point (the Bronx), The Mercy Center (Bronx) and Barco de Papel (Queens).
