RENT from EPIC Players Extended at A.R.T./New York Theatres
The neurodiverse production features a 99% neurodivergent cast, directed by Travis Burbee and Cassidy Kaye.
EPIC Players has extended its upcoming production of RENT following two sold-out performances ahead of opening. The neuroinclusive staging of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will now include additional performances through June 20 at A.R.T./New York Theatres.
Directed by Travis Burbee and Cassidy Kaye, with musical direction by Blake Brauer and choreography by Yannick-Robin Eike Mirko, previews will now begin June 3, with opening night set for June 4.
Originally premiering in 1996, RENT follows a group of artists navigating love, loss, addiction, poverty, and the AIDS crisis in New York City's East Village. Inspired by Puccini's La Bohème, the musical became known for centering LGBTQ+ voices and diverse communities on Broadway. EPIC Players' production places neurodivergent and Disabled artists at the center of the storytelling.
The cast includes Eric Fegan as Mark, Conor Tague as Roger, Genesis Solivan as Mimi, Jocelyn Elena Stout as Maureen, Lai Williams as Joanne, Joshua Cartagena as Angel, Cameron Walker as Collins, and Hunter Hollingsworth as Benny.
Ensemble members include Ahjaah Marie Jewett, Alex Herrera, Andrew Kader, Diana Osorio, Elisa Weiss, Ethan Homan, Gravity Queen of Hope and Love, KEVIN Ray Johnson, Laisha Gonzalez, Malcolm Hollis, Micah Tremblay, Nick Prior, Nina Sarna-Jones, Sarah Getzler, and Sven W.
The design team includes Christian Fleming (scenic design), Izzy Kitch (costume design), Dana Weintraub (props), Will Morris (lighting design), Brian Pacelli (video and projection), and Ari Frankl (sound design).
The production team includes Jamie Rose Hays (Access Coordinator), Aubrie Therrien (Producing Director), Talia Eapen (Director of Operations), Cameron Stephens (Rehearsal Stage Manager), Michael Swain-Smith (Production Stage Manager), Sydnee Davis (Production Manager), Carol Hoverman and Travis Martin (Assistant Stage Managers), Meggan Dodd (Acting Coach), and Max Baudsich (Acting Coach).
