Psychedelic Light Show LIQUID LIGHT LAB To Perform At Knitting Factory With Dead Meadow

Liquid Light Lab, the much sought-after psychedelic light show that has provided live visuals for the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Gene Ween, The Zombies, The 13th Floor Elevators, Phil Lesh and more, will bring its projections to the Knitting Factory Brooklyn for two nights on December 27-28 in collaboration with stoner-rock band Dead Meadow.

Liquid Light Lab is the work of Steve Pavlovsky, a kinetic light artist from New York City who has spent the past ten years invoking the traditions of artists such as abstract Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, visual light artist Thomas Wilfred, and more recently Joshua White of the infamous The Joshua Light Show. Utilizing colorful oils, dyes, and mixtures, his light show has become known as one of the leading shows of its kind throughout the experimental music scene.

According to Pavlovsky, Dead Meadow's sound perfectly matches the aesthetic Liquid Light Lab provides.

"I've been following Dead Meadow for years, and they've always been on my wishlist of bands to collaborate with," Pavlovsky said. "It's an honor to compliment their sound with a one-of-a-kind psychedelic light show that enhances seeing a band of their ilk live."

Pavlovsky's work over the past ten years has caught the attention of more than just bands and festivals such as Levitation and Mountain Jam seeking his services. Earlier this year, Liquid Light Lab was featured in "You Say You Want A Revolution: Remembering the 60s," an exhibit at the New York City Public Library that focused on the counterculture of the 60s and 70s, of which Liquid Light Lab has been highly influenced by.

Speaking about the appeal organic liquid light shows have on younger audiences, Pavlovsky said in a recent Rolling Stone article, "I think that they have grown up in a digital world where this analog, real-time, hands-on thing is just not really seen much...it's a nice antithesis to that. But also, the essence of the show itself - that it's alive, it's organic, it's handmade, you don't necessarily have to know a lot of technology or programming or stuff like that to do it."

At the upcoming pair of shows with Dead Meadow, fans can expect to see Pavlovsky's signature brand of vintage psychedelia spliced with an all-new analog / digital multi-projection show that uses material spanning nearly 50 years. Due to high demand, tickets are only available for the newly added December 28th show.
