Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw presents Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw on Monday December 17 at 7PM at New York's most legendary club, The Players (16 Gramercy Park South).

Tickets $15 are available December 1 at 212-352-3101 or online at www.ProjectShaw.com

"This robust comedy has become Shaw's most famous and iconographic play. In it, he takes on almost every major social and political issue. This reading is the 22nd of the four-year series, devoted to presenting every play ever written by Shaw.  It is also the first of the plays in which producer/director David Staller will appear," explain press notes.

Eliza Doolittle will be played by Hannah Cabell, who is preparing to open in the title role of MTC's Pumpgirl. Marian Seldes will be playing Mrs. Higgins, Brian Murray is taking the role of Alfred Doolittle and Daniel Jenkins will be stepping into Pickering's shoes. Also cast are Broadway favorites Beth Fowler, Matt Cavenaugh and Jennifer Smith. Narrating will be Michael Riedel of the New York Post. The evening's host will be Time Out NY's David Cote.

The cast includes Jennifer Smith (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Mrs. Eynsford-Hill, Liz Morton as Clara Eynsford-Hill, Allen McCullough (12 Angry Men tour) as Bystander/Footman, Matt Cavenaugh (A Catered Affair) as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Hannah Cabell (Pumpgirl) as Eliza Doolitte, Daniel Jenkins (Mary Poppins) as Colonel Pickering, David Saller (producer/director) as Henry Higgins, Beth Fowler as Mrs. Pearce, Brian Murray (Me, Myself and I) as Alfred Doolittle, Marian Seldes as Mrs. Higgins with Michael Riedel (Narrator) and David Cote (Host).

In addition to Project Shaw, GTG is also producing a new play development program. Named for one of Shaw' inflammatory one-acts, PRESS CUTTINGS: the new plays will be produced by David Staller and Peter Flynn. As Shaw was a theater critic before becoming a playwright, all writers are currently on-staff critics or journalists devoted to covering the theater scene. The three writers chosen for the first year's cycle will be David Cote, Jeremy McCarter and Robert Simonson. These plays will be developed in a year-long workshop process. Once their own theatre space is secured, GTG will be presenting a full season including two fully mounted Shaw plays and at least one new play. These plays are to focus on the Shavian precepts involving individual human rights, political and social responsibility and the comic absurdity of daily life. Interested writers should contact Peter Flynn at 212-355-7823 or peterflynn@gingoldgroup.com
