Previews: TALKING WITH at Waimea Community Theater

Waimea Community Theater and The Parker School Theatre proudly presents Talking With…, the acclaimed collection of monologues by celebrated playwright Jane Martin, directed by Kelly Wadlegger. Performances will take place May 28–30, 2026, in Waimea.

Originally premiering in New York City in 1982, Talking With… has captivated audiences around the world with its compelling exploration of female identity, personal struggle, resilience, and the complexity of human experience. Through a series of poignant and often humorous monologues, 11 women step into the spotlight to share deeply personal stories that reveal their fears, dreams, heartbreaks, humor, and strength.

Each monologue offers a distinct perspective, weaving together a powerful tapestry of diverse female experiences. The play examines themes including courage, loneliness, loss, misogyny, control, evangelism, survival, and the universal search for meaning and connection. Balancing emotional depth with wit and humanity, Talking With… invites audiences to laugh, reflect, and empathize with the voices on stage.

“The topics explored in these monologues are incredibly relevant in today’s society,” said Wadlegger. “This play gives women space to speak honestly about their experiences, struggles, and resilience. It is both intimate and powerful.”

Known for its rich character work and emotionally engaging storytelling, Talking With… provides performers with the opportunity to embody a wide range of personalities and experiences while offering audiences an unforgettable evening of theater.

Performances of Talking With… will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. All performances will take place at Parker School Theatre, located at 65-1224 Lindsey Road in Waimea, Hawaiʻi.

Audience members are encouraged to attend this moving and thought-provoking theatrical experience celebrating the complexity, humor, vulnerability, and resilience of women’s voices.
