Previews: HOME SWEET LOAN THE MUSICAL Goes on Stage This September
The show will run from 30 September to 18 October for a total of 23 shows at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki.
Home Sweet Loan is an iconic novel dissecting the problems faced by many young Indonesian urbanites: namely, house ownership and turbulent family relationships. The novel was adapted into a highly successful film in 2026.
This year, Visinema, Indonesia Kaya, and Jakarta Art House will bring the story to the stage as HOME SWEET LOAN THE MUSICAL. The show will run from 30 September to 18 October for a total of 23 shows at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki.
With direction by Dinda Lisa Reideka and script by Widya Arifianti and Yemima Krisanti, the show will additionally feature 5 new songs by popular Indonesian singer-songwriter Idgitaf.
HOME SWEET LOAN THE MUSICAL features Kalya Islamadina and Chintana Jo sharing the role of Kaluna. Choreographed by El Haq Latief and Nudiandra Sarasvati, the dance numbers are said to ‘reflect the fast pace of life in Jakarta and the urban pressures faced by the characters’. Vocal director Yandi Brownsu coached the cast to convey character emotions and internal conflicts through their singing. Music director Ivan Tangkulung integrated these elements by arranging five original songs by Idgitaf into the show's narrative structure, performed alongside a live orchestra.
At the press conference held earlier this month, the creatives of HOME SWEET LOAN promised a show that's tear-jerking– as the film is famous for – and offer a ‘warm embrace’ to those pursuing their dreams. The musical has also released a music video for one of its original songs, ‘Cukup Nggak Cukup’ (‘Enough or Not’) on YouTube.
