Frances Ruffelle recently talked to the Daily Mail about her daughter, young pop star Eliza Doolittle. In the article, written by Elizabeth Sanderson, Ruffelle tells all about her own past in show business as well as the business of being the mother of a child star.

Frances Ruffelle's daughter, Eliza, was just 12 years old when she announced she wanted to be a pop star.
‘It was the last thing I wanted to hear,' says Frances.
‘But I said, "OK, if you really want to be a singer, you've got to sit down and start writing. So here's a book, start writing."??' And she did.

Fortunately, Frances need not have worried. Working under the name Eliza Doolittle, her daughter's new single, Pack Up, is this year's big summer hit, while her eponymous debut album stands at No??5 in the charts.

The critics and her ever-growing number of fans believe the 22-year-old is destined for great things, some even claiming she is the new Lily Allen.

And while Frances is optimistic for her daughter, it is with caution, for she understands the precarious nature of showbusiness more than most. There is, too, an undeniable poignancy as she watches her daughter take the first steps on the road to what she hopes will be lasting fame.

Ruffelle also discusses her own career, her disappointment over the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables, her new album and the plans for the original cast to reunite for the 25th Anniversary.
