Police Investigation At 49th Street and 8th Avenue as Knife-Wielding Man Shot Dead

At approximately 8:30am this morning, Twitter users began posting photos of a dead man lying at the corner of 8th Avenue and 49th Street.
"Guy pulled a knife on 8th Ave and 49th. 5 shots by cops. Dead in street. Crazy," read a post by user Lisa Granatstein.
"LE Sources - man slashes female. Police shoot and kill perp. 8th and 49th. Avoid Area - heavy traffic," wrote Marc Santia.
DNA Info reports that the man, whose identity was not immediately released, used a knife to attack a woman at that corner. Police ordered him to drop his knife and when he refused, they opened fire.
