While Barbra Streisand was celebrating her 72nd birthday yesterday, Christopher J. Hanke took to the cellar to wish the greatest star a happy birthday! Following the performance of the smash hit comedy Buyer & Cellar, Hanke started the crowd in a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" and brought out a cake and party hats to celebrate. Broadway leading man Christopher J. Hanke (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) began performances as Alex More in the smash hit comedy Buyer & Cellar on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street). Buyer & Cellar, which recouped its initial investment faster than any Off-Broadway show in recent history and continues to break box office records, was just nominated for a 2014 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show. Buyer & Cellar is written by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Stephen Brackettand is produced by Darren Bagert, Dan Shaheen and Ted Snowdon.
Buyer & Cellar had its world premiere in April 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, where it received rave reviews and played a sold-out, extended run before transferring to the Barrow Street Theatre where it opened June 24, 2013.
