Playwright, screenwriter, and author Tony Kushner was presented the Louis Auchincloss Prize last night at The Museum Of The City Of New York and BroadwayWorld was there.
Presenting the award to Mr. Kushner, a National Medal Of Arts and Pulitzer Prize recipient were Andrew Auchincloss, Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director, Manhattan Theater Club, Bruno A. Quinson, Chairman of the Louis Auchincloss Prize and David Guin, Partner, Withers Bergman.
Kushner's plays include A Bright Room Called Day, Angels in America, Parts One and Two, Slavs!, Homebody/Kabl, the musical Caroline, or Change and the opera A blizzard on Marblehead Neck both with composer Jeanine Tesoro, and The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide To Capitalism And Socialism With A Key To The Scriptures.
Beyond theatre, Kushner has written screenplays for Mike Nichols' film Angels In America, and for Steven Spielberg's Munich and Lincoln.
Since its founding in 1923, the Museum of the City of New York has celebrated and interpreted the city and educated the public about New York's heritage and distinctive character. The Museum's collection of more than 750,000 objects and images supports this mission. From Teaspoons to Titanic: Recent Acquisitions showcases a selection of new additions to collection, all of which speak to the life of the city.
