Photo Coverage: Rosie O'Donnell Opens 'Solace' Art Gallery

The Gallery at New World Stages, the two floor exhibition space at New York's preeminent home for Off-Broadway productions in the heart of the theater district, presents "Solace" the art of Rosie O'Donnell, which opened on October 9 and continues on exhibition through December 2.

Beverley D Mac Keen, New World Stages' Executive Director, explains, "To me, her work, her compositions and materials, explore so many levels simultaneously: she balances anger and inspiration, hope and hurt, isolation and inclusion to ultimately poise on the wonderful point of solace."

Rosie O'Donnell is a 13-time Emmy Award-winning American comedienne, talk show host, television personality, celebrity blogger, gay rights activist, film, television, and stage actress. Rosie has taken her popularity and put it to good use, establishing the "Rosie's For All Kids Foundation," in 1997 which has raised more than $56 million and awarded more than $22 million dollars in grants to over 1,400 child-related non-profit organizations to benefit low-income families across the country.  In 2003, O'Donnell established "Rosie's Broadway Kids," a program that provides instruction in musical theater to the public school children of New York. She was last seen as moderator on the tenth season of ABC's "The View. This month, she will release her second book called Celebrity Detox with Warner books.

"Rosie O'Donnell: Solace" continues on exhibition through December 12.  The Gallery at New World Stages is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 AM to 6 PM.  The Gallery entrance is located at 343 West 49th Street.  For more information, please call 646-871-1730.
