Photo Coverage: Jessye Norman, Vivian Reed, KT Sullivan at Requiem Mass for Jean-Claude Baker

Some of the best musical experiences have taken place in houses of worship. Sadly, Holy Cross Church in Times Square was the location of such an occurrence on Saturday as a Requiem Mass for Jean-Claude Baker who committed suicide on January 15th 2015 was held at the historic church. The Romanesque Revival style building was constructed in 1870 and is the oldest building on 42nd Street. BroadwayWorld brings you photos of the performances below!

Jean-Claude Baker, was the international restaurateur, biographer, humanitarian and proprietor of Chez Josephine, the French restaurant he named after his adoptive mother, Josephine Baker. Josephine Baker was the American performer who became a superstar in Paris in the 1920's. The church was filled with friends and family, who were truly representative of the phrase "cocktail of human beings" that Baker used to describe Chez Josephine.

Participating in the Mass which was presided over by Fr. Peter Colapietro were Kirk Taylor,Patrick Pacheco, Jessye Norman, Richard Hunnnings, Roma Torre, Mireille Miller, KT Sullivan, Thomas Elliot, Charles Currin, Holy Cross Choir, and Vivian Reed. The Musical Supervisor and Conductor was Chapman Roberts. The Requiem was a "hit" in every way possible, however the "audience" was sorry to have to attend.
