The evening before the opening of The Demons-one of Lincoln Center Festival's hottest tickets this (broiling) summer-audiences will have a rare opportunity to attend a free symposium about the production with the show's eminent German director, Peter Stein, who will be interviewed by Lincoln Center Theater dramaturg Anne Cattaneo. The event takes place on Friday, July 9th at 6 p.m. in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, 165 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam at Lincoln Center.

Says Peter Stein, "My adaptation of The Demons, which has had different versions by Albert Camus, Frank Castorf, Lev Dodin, and Andrzej Wajda, is an almost complete version of Dostoyevsky's masterpiece and all his characters."

There are still a limited number of tickets available for the July 10 and 11 performances of The Demons on Governors Island. For availability, call CenterCharge at 212.721.6500, visit www.lincolncenterfestival.org, or the Avery Fisher Hall or Alice Tully Hall box offices.

Based on Dostoyevsky's novel The Demons (also known as The Possessed), Lincoln Center Festival is presenting the North American premiere of director Peter Stein's marathon production for two performances in an industrial warehouse on Governor's Island. The 12-hour marathon (with four intermissions and two breaks for an included lunch and dinner) is performed by a cast of 26 European actors in Italian (with English supertitles), and begins at 11 a.m. each day after audiences take a free 10 a.m. ferry to Governor's Island.

Lincoln Center Festival 2010 is sponsored by American Express.
