Parity Productions Opens 2019 Parity Commission Submission Period Through Today

Theatre Production Company Parity Productions, a producer of new work that ensures they fill at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) on their productions with cis women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, is now accepting submissions of full-length plays. Parity Productions awards two commissions per year to one cis woman playwright and one TCNG playwright who have demonstrated a singular talent for storytelling for their Annual Parity Commission. The Commission includes an award of $2,500 and developmental support for their play with an option for production. Submissions opened on October 1st and will remain open until 11:59pm Eastern on October 31st, 2018.

Previous winners of The Annual Parity Commission include Mêlisa Annis (she/her) and Else C. Went (they/them) in 2017 and Liz Kerin (she/her) and Azure D. Osborne-Lee (he/him, they/them) in 2018.

Parity Productions develops and produces compelling new plays that give voice to individuals who rebel against their marginalized place in society. Parity Productions is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit theatre company formed in 2016 by international award-winning director Ludovica Villar-Hauser (she/her) with its roots in two other previous not-for-profits founded by Villar-Hauser: VH Theatrical Development Foundation and Works by Women.
