Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation is delighted to announce our 35th Anniversary Season of great theatre in 2011 - 2012 with a variety of choices for all audiences, all at San Diego Civic Theatre!  We offer the hottest ticket in town to eight of Broadway's best, from classic musicals to rock icons to beloved family fare - as well as the latest triumph by one of the dance world's contemporary visionaries!

"We have much to celebrate in the upcoming 2011 - 2012 Season," remarked Nederlander Vice President Joe Kobryner. "We are presenting new shows based on timeless classics, like MARY POPPINS; delightful events for the entire family like Blue Man Group and THE ADDAMS FAMILY; and welcome the return to San Diego of MEMPHIS - the 2010 Tony Award® winning musical produced at the La Jolla Playhouse before its current Broadway run."

"This Season is especially eclectic - which is an appropriate reflection of our past 35 years," commented Diane E. Willcox, General Manager of Broadway/San Diego.  "We have the elegant and seductive dance musical, COME FLY AWAY, and the raucous and hilarious, big hair meets big dreams musical rock of ages as the perfect illustration of the breadth of our presentations and our audience!  In addition, as Extra-Season Events, we welcome the returns of all-time favorites, WICKED and CATS to round out our Season."

Broadway/San Diego's 35th Anniversary Season is supported by Season Sponsor San Diego County Credit Union.  In regards to their ongoing dedication to this partnership, Teresa Halleck, new President & CEO of San Diego County Credit Union, commented "San Diego County Credit Union is proud to support the local arts community as the season sponsor of Broadway/San Diego for the sixth consecutive year."

Kobryner also noted: "San Diego County Credit Union has been a staunch supporter of our work for five seasons now.  We are delighted and honored to continue this relationship with the county's premier financial institution."

March 27 - April 1, 2012: rock of ages
Civic TheatreDon't miss the five-time Tony Award® nominated smash-hit musical where big hair meets big dreams, rock of ages!  Set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker in LA's most famous rock club, and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80's.  It's an arena-rock love story told through the mind blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on ~ The New York Times says it's "Impossible to resist!  As guilty as pleasures get!"For mature audiences who don't mind adult language, sexual references, big hair and big hair bands.

May 29 - June 3, 2012: THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Civic TheatreThe weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in THE ADDAMS FAMILY.  This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with creative consultation by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks.  This is definitely not the same old song and dance.  It's every parent's nightmare. Your little girl has suddenly become a young woman, and what's worse, has fallen deliriously in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Yes, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has a "normal" boyfriend, and for parents Gomez and Morticia, this shocking development will turn the Addams house downside up.  It's a family portrait that's completely off the wall.  Bloomberg News calls it "Uproarious! A glitzy gloomy musical entirely worthy of the macabre drawings by Charles Addams!"Lots of fun for boys and ghouls of all ages.
