Producing Artistic Director Elizabeth Flemming and Out of the Box Theatrics is proud to announce the second season of the sold out reading series Building the Box. Curated by Associate Artistic Director, Ethan Paulini, this new series features 4 new pieces that are being considered for full production in the 2019 (and beyond) season. With a renewed commitment to World, American and New York Premieres, this series is designed to give OOTB subscribers and patrons unprecedented access to the programming process, the opportunity to provide feedback to an in progress new play and get a sneak peek into what is ahead, not only from OOTB, but from some of America's most exciting new playwrights.

"And the Academy Award goes to..." Sydney Cunningham becomes the second black actress to win an Oscar for lead actress and instead of thanking her husband, her agent (or even God), she uses the opportunity to publicly call out her estranged father who people believe is dead... Only he's not. Tarnish Opal explores the roles of men- both past and present- in Sydney's life and how they support or sabotage her journey in the midst of newfound fame.

Krystle N. Adams - Krystle is currently in the production Or Current Resident at Theater for a New City. She was previously seen in New Hampshire at the Weathervane Theater in Hairspray, Seussical, West Side Story. She is in pre-production for the short film "Blackout Cake" (@blackoutcakethemovie) and finished writing her short film "Dent" which will also be in pre-production. The Uncomfortable Conversation Inc. (YouTube) Krystle is also an active member as a playwright the The Actors Studio's Playwright/Directing Unit. Krystle has been writing plays, short film and features for nine years. She recently formed her Production Company, KNA Productions LLC and hopes to continue to create compelling stories for both stage and screen that touch the core of humanity, be it comedy or drama.
