Starting today, American Public Media will broadcast the first studio concert recorded from Orchestra of St. Luke's new home, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music. The one-hour concert, conducted by Maestro Iván Fischer and hosted by Fred Child, will broadcast on American Public Media's Performance Today, the most-listened-to classical music radio show in America.

The broadcast features OSL performing two works that redefined music from the Classical era: Prokofiev's "Classical" Symphony and Beethoven's Symphony No. 4. Between performances, Child and Fischer provide insight into the program through a Q&A session.

With spaces that are specially designed for rehearsal and recording, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music offers OSL new capabilities to host a wide range of programs through its OSL@DMC series-including studio concerts, open rehearsals and arts education programs. This Performance Today broadcast was recorded in the 3,395 square foot Mary Flagler Cary Hall, whose large size and state-of-the-art broadcast connectivity allowed Performance Today to record its very first "performance chat" with both orchestra and in-studio audience.

Performance Today will air this concert over two successive days on public radio stations throughout the country-today, Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22 (check local listings). WQXR listeners in New York City can hear the broadcast in its entirety over Performance Today's evening hours on Sunday, April 24 beginning at 7PM ET. The program will also be posted on performancetoday.org and OSLmusic.org.
