O'Hara and Lazar to Headline Philly Pops Concert, 8/10

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops will return to The Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia with the concert "From Broadway to Hollywood," on Thursday, August 10, at 8:00 p.m. Starring in the concert will be Kelli O'Hara and Aaron Lazar, both of whom have starred in the recently-closed The Light in the Piazza.
"The program features music of Broadway and film, including Broadway shows that were made into films and films that found success as Broadway productions. Included will be many of Broadway's greatest songs as well as scores and themes from epic films. A special segment will be devoted to Grammy-Award-winning Peter Nero's virtuoso piano interpretations," state press notes. "From Broadway to Hollywood" is Peter Nero and the Philly Pops' first concert at the Mann Center since the 1999 summer season. O'Hara won Tony nominations for her performances as Babe Williams in The Pajama Game opposite Harry Connick Jr. and as Clara Johnson in The Light in the Piazza at Lincoln Center Theater. O'Hara's previous Broadway appearances include Jekyll & Hyde, Follies, Sweet Smell of Success, and Dracula. Other credits include Jekyll & Hyde on tour, and My Life with Albertine. She can also be seen in the film The Dying Gaul and heard on the recent PS Classics cast recording of Dream True.

Lazar's performance Fabrizio Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza (he succeeded Matthew Morrison) was recently broadcast on "Live from Lincoln Center." Lazar made his Broadway debut as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera in 2002 and has performed lead roles in Broadway's Oklahoma! and a national tour of The Scarlet Pimpernel. This fall, he performs the role of Enjolras in a special limited six-month engagement of Les Misérables on Broadway.
