Welcome to the second annual NewFilmmakers Summer Fest 2010. Our five day NewFilmmakers Summer Fest 2010 will screen over fifty new films about sex, love, and everything else. We debut a new Summer Shorts Series and welcome the return of the Asian Screening Series, which had been a popular part of our regular weekly series.

The NewFilmmakers NY Series screens at Anthology Film Archives on the Lower East Side at 32 Second Avenue & 2nd Street. NewFilmmakers LA screens in the Stanley Kramer Theater @ Anthology at the Sunset Gower Studio. Many features screened at NewFilmmakers are now available on NewFilmmakers Online.

Frank Lisi A SICILIAN TALE (2009, 56 Minutes, Video)
Putting a new twist on a time-honored genre, A SICILIAN TALE tells the multigenerational story of an Italian American family who must grapple daily with the faithful decision made long ago by their ancestral patriarch to become part of his local Sicilian mafia; however, unlike most would-be-gangsters of fiction, who embrace such an opportunity only to regret it later on, Lorenzo, the Militello pater familias, regrets it the very moment it is made. A humble farmer working the fields of Sicily, Lorenzo is a man whose devotion to his family is unwavering and whose morality is beyond reproach, that is, until one day when he is approached by the local don, who makes him an offer he can't refuse: either join his ranks or his family dies. Going against all he holds sacred and dear, Lorenzo becomes the reluctant assassin for Don Gaetano Verde.
