On April 3rd at 8:00 PM, as part of their Spring Fest, NewFilmakers presents Club Midnight, directed by Amy Greenfield.

n February YouTube censored Greenfield's films including clips of three of the films in Club Midnight. So the filmmaker, with two leading civil rights organizations, the National Coalition Against Censorship and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, went up against the internet giant. And they won. With an outpouring of public support, You Tube, in a potentially ground-breaking decision, reversed their censorship of Greenfield's films, recognizing her use of nudity as art. Greenfield and Svetlana Mintcheva, a director of the National Coalition, will be present at the NewFilmmakers/Spring Fest screening to discuss the issues of nudity, censorship and the internet in relation to Club Midnight and for all filmmakers.

The film will be shown at the Anthology Film Archives 32 Second Avenue @ 2nd Street. There will be a reception at 7:30 PM before the film is shown. Admission is $6.

Amy Greenfield is an internationally award-winning filmmaker. In her latest project she expands on her acclaimed film-cycle, CLUB MIDNIGHT. This NewFilmmakers screening is particularly timely. The National Coalition Against Censorship and Electronic Frontier Foundation have challenged YouTube/Google's censorship of nudity in art, spearheaded by YouTube's censorship of Greenfield films, including three in the NewFilmmakers' screening, CLUB MIDNIGHT/AGAINST CENSORSHIP. With NCAC and EFF's efforts and an outpouring of public support for Greenfield, great progress has been made. But the challenge continues. Amy Greenfield and Marshall Reese of the NCAC will be present at the festival screening to discuss this and more with the audience.
