An upcoming restaurant and club, 54 Below, hopes to become a new staple for performers and patrons alike.

The New York Times reports today that the 160-seat space is set to kick off featuring Patti LuPone for two weeks in June, and has also confirmed that Brian d'Arcy James, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Rebecca Luker and Megan Hilty have scheduled performances.

According to the report, "Sketches of the room show dark wood paneling and plum-colored seating, with almost every chair within about 30 feet of the stage."

The restaurant was designed by Richard H. Lewis along with Tony Award winners John Lee Beatty and Ken Billington.

Scott Wittman and Phil Geoffrey Bond will oversee booking for the space. "When I came to New York in 1976, it was the renaissance of cabaret," Wittman said. "I'm trying to bring a little bit of that back so you can have a place where Justin Vivian Bond and Ben Vereen can live under the same roof."

The club is located under the former Studio 54 on West 54th Street. Read the New York Times article here.
