Great Point Media announced today that the company will be kicking off worldwide sales at the American Film Market (AFM) for writer/director Richard Levine's romantic thriller BLUE ANGEL, starring Stanley Tucci, Kyra Sedgwick and Addison Timlin. In addition, Janeane Garofalo appears in a supporting role. Jared Ian Goldman of Mighty Engine and Wren Arthur of Olive Productions are producing. The film was fully financed and produced in association with Great Point Media. Robert Halmi Jr. and Jim Reeve of Great Point Media are executive producers.

Based on the novel and national bestseller of the same name by Francine Prose, the movie centers on Ted Swenson, a tormented writer and professor at a small New England university. Despite a loving marriage, his unresolved personal conflicts, both with his daughter and stalled career, manifest in unexpected and disastrous ways as he becomes obsessed with Angela Argo, a student whose writing both inspires him and fills him with regret. Blue Angel is a risqué and withering take on academic life, political correctness and its often blurry intersection with personal morality.

"We are very confident that Blue Angel will leave audiences mesmerized, and we are excited about bringing this film to the global market," said Robert Halmi, Chairman of Great Point Media. "This production has a top notch team across the board including our writer/director Richard Levine."

"We are honored to have been graced with actors working at the very top of their game," said Olive Productions' Wren Arthur, a producer on the film. "The chemistry between Stanley and Addison is electric. And Kyra Sedgwick plays the perfect unaware casualty in this wonderful adaptation of Francine Prose's classic work. We have all worked hard to bring about a special blend of romance and thrills to deliver a thoroughly entertaining and unique film to audiences all over the world."

Stanley Tucci has appeared in over 50 films and countless television shows. He has appeared in more than a dozen plays, on and off Broadway, and has been behind the camera working as a writer, director, and producer. His eclectic and diverse work spans everything from major blockbusters to small independent films. He is an Academy Award nominee, Emmy and Golden Globe winner, and has either won or been nominated for numerous other awards.

Kyra Sedgwick is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner who is known for her lead role in The Closer. She also starred in many feature films including Born on the Fourth of July, Phenomenon and Gamer. She received two Golden Globe nominations for her roles in Miss Rose White and Something to Talk About.

Blue Angel is currently filming in New York and will wrap production later this month. CAA is representing US rights. Great Point Media represents all rights outside of North America and will be presenting footage for the first time to distributors in Los Angeles at AFM.
