Nash, Anderson Stand Out in Second Week of 'Dancing With The Stars'

Week two of the hit reality series 'Dancing With The Stars' got underway in full gear as all 11 couples took to the stage with the aim of outshining one another and earning their places into the viewers' hearts - and votes.

Up first was Shannen Doherty and partner Mark in an energetic jive routine. Shannen, despite feeling frustrated in rehearsals, seemed to enjoy her time on the dance floor and was beaming as she neared the end of the routine. The judges appreciated her enthusiasm and energy but felt she lacked finesse, musicality and could improve on some of the technicality.

Soap opera star Aiden Turner, who received low scores in last week's show and was shown in rehearsal having a 'spar' with his partner Edyta, was up next with a foxtrot routine. Turner and Edyta glided and whirlEd Gracefully on the dancer floor and were often met with applause and cheers from the audience. The judges felt there was definite improvement from last week and said the footwork was solid, though there were "sticky moments".

Men's figureskater Evan Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya, who were told last week they needed to work on their chemistry, danced a 50's inspired jive. Evan and Anna approached the judges and were met with a "That was fun!" from host Tom Bergeron. The judges felt the connection between the two was "completely there" and despite some footwork being wobbly, the judges agreed the performance was spot on.

Niecy Nash and partner Louis, whose cha-cha last week garnered many compliments from the judges, took to the floor with a foxtrot to the tune of 'Love You I Do' from Dreamgirls. The judges had nothing but praise for the performance and felt Niecy was a "revelation", fully in control of her movements and owning the dance floor.

Former Bachelor star Jake Pavelka admitted to feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of taking on a jive routine. Jake, who was also seen butting heads with his dance partner in the rehearsal footage, danced to 'Hip to be Square'. While the energy was clearly there, Jake lacked in footwoork elements. The judges applauded Jake's obvious determination to advance in the talent competition, but were critical of some of the technical elements.

Legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin danced the foxtrot to the appropriately chosen 'Fly Me To The Moon' track. Aldrin received a standing ovation at the end, the very first of the evening. The judges called the performance "tender and emotional", though they felt the dancing was slightly awkward which was reflected in the low scores the duo received.

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and her partner Derek Hough, who were impressive last week with their Viennese Waltz, danced an admirable jive routine. Judge Bruce proclaimed their performance to be "phenomenal" and that this was a "jive for the 21st century...reinvented and hip."

Erin Andrews and Maks's solid foxtrot was met with positive remarks from the judges on Andrews' fluid movements and elegant footwork.

Pamela Anderson and partner Damian danced the foxtrot in an old Hollywood style with Anderson in full Marilyn Monroe get-up. The duo seemed to enjoy itself and they delivered a fun routine. The judges appreciaTed Anderson's ability to emerge herself into the character and also praised her on her dancing abilities.

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl took to the stage next in a slightly uneven and shaky foxtrot. The judges were honestly brutal in their comments, saying Chat looked uncomfortable and cumbersome, although Carrie Anne told Chad he has potential but needs to work harder to tap into it.

Reality star Kate Gosselin and partner Tony were last. Gosselin, who struggled during last week's premiere, was seen in rehearsals fighting with Tony over his teaching style. At one point, he stormed off saying he was quitting leaving Gosselin in tears. Despite the drama off-stage, the partners managed to set their differences aside and went on to perform the jive. However, Gosselin once again struggled and looked uncomfortable, rendering their performance the evening's weakest.  

'Dancing with the Stars' viewers may cast their votes for their favorite teams via phone on Monday night during and up to 30 minutes after the "Dancing with the Stars" performance shows. AT&T customers may also text message their votes by texting the word "VOTE" and entering the number that corresponds to the team they want to support (message and data rates may apply). Viewers may also vote online at www.abc.com starting from the opening of each episode on the East Coast and until 12:00 Noon, ET the following day. The couple with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes for both performances will be sent home on Tuesday, March 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) in the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show."

Hosted by Tom Bergeron ("America's Funniest Home Videos"), the celebrities perform choreographed dance routines which will be judged by renowned Ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, who all return for their tenth season together.
