NYMF Offers Fall Internships
By: Gabrielle Sierra
The New York Musical Theatre Festival offers internships in a variety of fields allowing interns to learn about not-for-profit theatre through active participation in a small, open-office environment. NYMF interns have an area of focus catered to each individual's personal goals and interests allowing them to gain specific skills and creating a lens through which to view their internship. All interns also perform general office responsibilities to help maintain an orderly office environment, support NYMF staff as necessary, and gain a comprehensive view of the Festival's operations. Interns form a critical part of the Festival staff and aid in key duties and participate in significant projects in their chosen field.
Internships are open to current undergraduates, graduate students, and early-career professionals for Fall 2011. Exact dates are flexible to accommodate individual interns' availability. Preference is given to full time (40 hours/week) candidates. Part time positions are available, but interns must commit a minimum of 16 hours/week.All interns should have a passion for live theatre and be enthusiastic about new theatrical works.Operations - interns interact and collaborate with the entire staff on a daily basis as a central point for information and coordination. Tasks include database management, mail merging, general filing, and reception. Activities vary based on the time of year. Interns should have excellent knowledge of both Word and Excel, and a good phone manner. This is a perfect position for someone starting out in theatre administration, as it gives a comprehensive overview of NYMF, and allows the intern to develop a breadth of administrative skills.Once NYMF has received your application, our office will be in touch to confirm receipt of your materials, request additional information, and/or set up an interview. In-person interviews are preferred, but phone interviews can be arranged in most cases. Interviews are conducted during office hours, Monday though Friday from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. How to Apply:
