The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) celebrates its fifth year with 24 full productions, a dance series, a developmental series, concerts and special events. And now has added two additional concerts to its lineup: hailed as "perhaps the most important young writers in musical theatre today" by Talkin' Broadway, Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk bring their unique blend of pop and musical theatre to the Zipper Theatre on September 23rd. For the latest from the cutting edge world of musical theatre, enjoy mangled love ballads and disjointed showstoppers to delight the twisted, sentimental show queen in all of us. NYMF offers The Gay Agenda at the 45th Street Theatre on September 27th.
NYMF is an annual three-week event that has premiered over 130 musicals in its first four years - many of which have gone on to award-winning productions in New York, in regional theaters and on tour in 38 states, and nine countries worldwide. NYMF 2004 hit Altar Boyz has played well over 1,000 performances off-Broadway and spawned two National Tours; fellow NYMF alum [title of show] recently opened to rave reviews at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway; Off-Broadway audiences will soon see return engagements of The Blue Flower and My Vaudeville Man. This year's Festival will begin September 15th and continue through October 5th. Memberships combining charitable contributions with valuable, flexible ticket packages are available for purchase now at www.nymf.org. Members may purchase tickets now. Tickets for the general public go on sale September 1st. Hailed as "the Sundance of Musical Theatre," NYMF is widely regarded as the essential source for new work and emerging artists, and is the largest musical theatre event in America. NYMF exists to revitalize one of America's greatest art forms by discovering, supporting and promoting new musical theater artists, and by introducing audiences to the vibrancy and diversity of contemporary musical theater. The complete concert schedule is as follows:
