NYC Parks & Rec Seeks Proposals for Horseback Riding Concession
Parks & Recreation today announces that a Request for Proposals ("RFP") has been issued for the development, operation and maintenance of a horseback riding concession in Central Park at a site adjacent to the North Meadow Recreation Center.
"Central Park's six miles of bridle trails provide a unique opportunity for park visitors to sway in a saddle beneath leafy canopies, taking in majestic views on horseback that are otherwise unavailable to joggers and pedestrians," said Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe. "Horseback riding was a key feature of Central Park since its creation more than 150 years ago, but since the closing of Claremont Riding Academy in 2007, visitors to the park have missed out on the opportunity to go horseback riding. We are now looking for proposals that would bring this wonderful amenity back into Central Park."
All proposals submitted in response to this RFP must be received no later than Monday, June 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
There will be a recommended site visit on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm. We will be meeting at the entrance to North Meadow Recreation Center, which is located mid-Park, off the 96th Street transverse in Central Park. If you are considering responding to this RFP, please make every effort to attend this recommended site visit.
Hard copies of the RFP can be obtained, at no cost, commencing on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays, at the Revenue Division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, which is located at 830 Fifth Avenue, Room 407, New York, NY 10065.
The RFP is also available for download, commencing on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 through Monday, June 13, 2011, on Parks' website.
