The New York Philharmonic will present a partially-staged production of My Fair Lady for four performances beginning March 7th at Avery Fisher Hall. Rob Fisher, formerly of the Encores! series, will conduct.

The Lerner and Loewe musicalreplaces Company, the Stephen Sondheim musical originally slated for this position, due to the recent Broadway revival now playing at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.  My Fair Lady, which originally starred Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, is based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion.

The N.Y. Philharmonic has not presented a semi-staged musical since 2004 when the orchestra's season included Candide. Lonny Price directed Kristin Chenoweth and Patti LuPone for this concert. Price also directed the 2000 concert performance of Sweeney Todd starring LuPone, George Hearn and Audra McDonald.

My Fair Lady, whose original production was in 1956, has not been in New York since the last Broadway revival in 1993 starring Richard Chamberlain and Melissa Errico. The cast for N.Y. Philharmonic's production is yet to be announced.
