On Saturday, April 16th at 8PM at New York City's Highline Ballroom, Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque, Gary Beeber's seductive and entertaining documentary about the New York City burlesque scene and contemporary nightlife culture, will get a special screening followed by live burlesque performances from Dirty Martini herself and several of the film's featured performers.

Winner of the Best Documentary Feature Award at the 2010 Coney Island Film Festival and an Official Selection of the 2010 USA Film Festival, Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque explores the outrageous world of performers who have created the "new burlesque" scene in New York City. From the sexy acts being showcased to the film's dark exploration of the performers' struggles to pay their bills and their quests to find stable romantic relationships, this compelling film tackles the relationship between sex, work, and feminism surrounding the thrilling combination of performance art, modern dance, and political satire called "NEW BURLESQUE."

Getting her start in the East Village, over time Dirty Martini has gained international recognition for her brilliant performances, costumes and persona. In 2004 she was crowned "Miss Exotic World" in Las Vegas, the highest honor one can achieve in the burlesque world. She currently tours internationally, bringing the underground American art form of ‘the tease' to masses of people and is an ambassador of freedom and sensuality and a true burlesque star.

Gary Beeber is an award-winning American filmmaker whose documentaries Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque, Bally-Master, and Messenger have screened in over 50 festivals and won countless awards at the FirstGlance Film Festival, the DC Independent Film Festival, the Staten Island Film Festival, and the Coney Island Film Festival. Prior to devoting his energies to documentaries, he was a photographer and producer of art videos which were shown in 70 galleries and exhibitions worldwide, and several of his works are in corporate collections here in the city at Goldman Sachs, Pfizer Pharmaceutical, and Chase.

Hosted by "The Godfather of the New Burlesque" James Habacker (appearing as his character Mel Frye), in addition to Dirty Martini the April 16th event will feature performances from burlesque stars TIGGER! (the first ever "Mr. Exotic World"), New York School of Burlesque founder JO WELDON, the WORLD FAMOUS *BOB*, BUNNY LOVE, PEEKABOO POINTE, and GAL FRIDAY.
