Local audiences will get the chance to watch two-time Oscar-winnerAlexander Payne's new film, Nebraska - before it's released to the rest of the country.

The film will be introduced via live HD broadcast by Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers. After the film, Travers will interview actors Bruce Dern (Monster, Coming Home, HBO's "Big Love") and Will Forte(NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock").

Payne is best known for his screenwriting and directing work on The Descendants, Sideways, and Election. In Nebraska, an aging, booze-addled father (2013 Cannes Film Festival Best Actor-winner Bruce Dern) makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son (Will Forte) in order to claim a million dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize.

The New York Film Critics Series is dedicated to producing inspiring events in a collaborative environment and to nurturing the long-term success of better, smarter movies. Each NYFCS screening brings prestigious, live New York City screenings to the best independent theaters in America.

Tickets are $22 for the general public, $20 for students, and $18 for Michigan Theater members.
