Musicians from the New York Philharmonic To Perform Works by Glière, James Matheson, Weber, and Brahms

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of Musicians from the Orchestra, continues its 2010-11 season on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall with a program that features Glière's Eight Duets for Violin and Cello; Quartet for Oboe and Strings by James Matheson (one of the composers commissioned to write a new work for the Philharmonic's December CONTACT! series); Weber's Trio in G minor, Op. 63; and Brahms Piano Trio in B major.

The musicians will be Glenn Dicterow, Kuan-Cheng Lu, Anna Rabinova, and Elizabeth Zeltser, violin; Dawn Hannay, viola; Eric Bartlett, Elizabeth Dyson, Qiang Tu, and Wei Yu, cello; Sherry Sylar, oboe; and guest artists Tatiana Goncharova and Hélène Jeanney, piano.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.
