The composer and violinist joins Yarn/Wire for a world premiere Miller commission at Columbia University.
Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts will continue its 2025–26 Composer Portraits series with an evening dedicated to Andrew McIntosh on Thursday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Miller Theatre, located at 2960 Broadway at 116th Street, with tickets starting at $20 and discounted student tickets available with valid ID.
Known for music that blends intricate rhythmic structures, rich instrumental textures, and an attentiveness to natural soundscapes, McIntosh will perform alongside his longtime collaborators Yarn/Wire. The program features the world premiere of Anadiplosis (2026), a new work commissioned by Miller Theatre, alongside a selection of earlier compositions spanning more than a decade of McIntosh’s output.

McIntosh’s new work, Anadiplosis, was commissioned by Miller Theatre at Columbia University and is supported by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, funded by the Chamber Music America Endowment Fund.

Los Angeles–based Andrew McIntosh is a Grammy-nominated violinist, violist, composer, and baroque violinist whose work bridges historical performance practice, microtonal tuning systems, improvisation, and the avant-garde. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at venues and festivals across the United States and Europe, including Miller Theatre, REDCAT, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Ojai Festival. As a composer, his work has been presented internationally, with commissions from organizations including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Industry, and Yarn/Wire.
Yarn/Wire is a New York–based percussion and piano quartet dedicated to experimental and contemporary music. Since its founding in 2005, the ensemble has commissioned hundreds of new works and appeared at major concert halls and festivals worldwide. The group’s 2025–26 season marks its 20th anniversary and includes appearances with the New York Philharmonic, multiple Composer Portraits at Miller Theatre, and premieres at festivals and institutions across the U.S.
