Matthew Doers and More Set for Ars Nova This Month
Ars Nova has announced the following upcoming events:
Composer Matthew Doers is an electric new force on the cutting-edge musical theater scene. This high-octane evening features songs from his original show, Taking Step Three13, an edgy, propulsive, musical retelling of Dostoevsky’s classic, Crime and Punishment. With a smoking hot band and vocal pyrotechnics to match, this evening of new music theater promises to introduce a thrilling new voice on the block.
Isaac Oliver, gay playwright and pale neurotic, is back with more hilarious and heartfelt stories, love poems, and brand-new rants from his blog, He Who Laughs, or The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Intimacy.
Hailed as a “monstrous new talent” by New York Magazine, Isaac Oliver’s plays include Electra in a One-Piece, Eddie Goshen is Dead, Long Dirty Jokes, Slim, Dancing Joy, and Come Here (2011 New York Innovative Theatre Award, Outstanding Original Short Script). His poetry has been published in The Full Spectrum: A New Generation of Writing About Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Other Identities, a Knopf anthology. His blog, He Who Laughs, or The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Intimacy, can be read at www.hewholaughs.com
