The Sheen Center, New York's new downtown cultural venue at 18 Bleecker Street, presents beloved, rising Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow, Songbird) in a two-night concert series, KATE BALDWIN & FRIENDS. Celebrating the music of Michael John LaChiusa on Sunday, February 28 at 7:30pm and Will Van Dyke on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 7:30pm, Baldwin will be joined by some incredible young talent including Matt Doyle (The Book of Mormon, Spring Awakening), Drama Desk Nominee Alexander Gemignani (Sweeney Todd, Les Mis), and Katie Thompson (Giant, Pump Boys & Dinettes).

Called "luminous, sophisticated and sincere" by The New York Times, Ms. Baldwin is best known for her break-out leading Broadway role in Finnian's Rainbow, which earned her Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. Additionally, Baldwin has appeared in the Broadway productions of Big Fish, The Full Monty, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Wonderful Town; the acclaimed off-Broadway productions of Songbird, Jon and Jen (Drama Desk nom.) and Giant (Drama Desk nom.); as well as in concerts with the New York Pops, Encores! and the American Songbook series at Lincoln Center.

Heralded for her ability to sing any genre, KATE BALDWIN AND FRIENDS will focus Baldwin's immense talents on the music of composers who hold special meaning for her: five time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChuisa (The Wild Party) and pop musical theater composer Will Van Dyke. The first concert will be directed by The Sheen Center's own curator of Theatrical Works, Erin Ortman; the second concert by Jeff Talbott.

Emmy Award winner and five time Tony nominee, LaChiusa is known for his hauntingly beautiful musicals like The Wild Party, Hello Again, and Queen of the Mist. Baldwin starred in his Off-Broadway musical Giant in 2012, which received a Drama Desk nomination. Bringing LaChiusa's music to life, the inaugural KATE BALDWIN & FRIENDS will feature musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell (Finding Neverland, Big Fish & the upcoming Tuck Everlasting,), along with the vocal talents of Alexander Gemignani, Katie Thompson, and Allison Blackwell (A Night with Janis Joplin, Porgy and Bess). Mary-Mitchell Campbell will arrange and lead a 5-piece band.

Hip, contemporary musical theater composer Will Van Dyke's songs have been performed at venues all over the country from Los Angeles to New York City. His works include The Girls I've Like Liked at Ars Nova, The Lion King Jr. for Disney and the upcoming Magnificent Climb with Tony Award winner Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), Imagine Harry and Wintersong with Jeff Talbott, and Writing Kevin Taylor with Josh Halloway. Beloved by musical theater stars such as Baldwin, this second concert will additionally feature two of Broadway's fastest rising talents Matt Doyle and Jessica Vosk (Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland). The vocal trio will be joined and led by Van Dyke and backed by his band, The Whiskey 5.
