Mary Cleere Haran 'Loves Lyrics' at Caramoor, 8/2 & 8/3

New York cabaret star Mary Cleere Haran, whose vocal stylings have been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney, will bring her new show "I Love Lyrics" to Caramoor in Katonah, NY for two performances, Wednesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 3 in the Donors' Dining Pavilion.
"I Love Lyrics" features songs from both stage and screen of such acclaimed 20th century lyricists as Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, and Lorenz Hart. "'I Love Lyrics' is the latest in a chain of critically-acclaimed one-woman cabaret evenings Mary Cleere Haran has developed and starred in at such New York City venues as Rainbow & Stars and the legendary Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel. Previous shows have included "An Affair to Remember: Movie Songs of the 50s;" "This Funny World: Lyrics by Hart;" "The Memory of All That," honoring George Gershwin's centenary in 1998; and "Crazy Rhythm: Manhattan in the 20s," which had its engagement at the Oak Room extended several times due to popular demand.Haran has also appeared on Broadway in The 1940s Radio Hour and Off-Broadway in Manhattan Music, Swingtime Canteen and Heebie Jeebies. On TV, she had a recurring role on Sidney Lumet's drama "100 Centre Street" on A&E. She is also a respected writer and researcher who has contributed to numerous PBS specials such as "Irving Berlin's America" and "Remembering Bing."
