Martin Henderson to Join Lewis in London Fool for Love

By: May. 05, 2006

Martin Henderson is set to co-star opposite Juliette Lewis in the upcoming London revival of Sam Shepard's Fool for Love, which will begin previews at the Apollo Theatre on June 7th and open on June 13th.

He will play Eddie opposite the May of Lewis, who is known for turns in films such as Cape Fear, Natural Born Killers, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape.  Set in a hotel room in the Mojave Desert, the play concerns two old flames whose reignited love is threatened and impeded by family secrets.  Also featuring Larry Lamb and Joe Duttine, the production will be directed by Lindsay Posner, who has won acclaim for staging London productions of plays such as David Mamet's Oleanna and Romance, and Pinter's The Birthday Party.

Henderson, who hails from New Zealand, has appeared on screen in Little Fish, Bride & Prejudice, Torque, The Ring, Windtalkers, and in TV series such as "Shortland Street" and "Big Sky."

Fool for Love opened at Off-Broadway's Douglas Fairbanks Theatre on November 27th, 1983 and ran for 1,000 performances through September 29th, 1985. The show, which was also directed by Shepard (Buried Child, Curse of the Starving Class) originally starred Kathy Baker and Ed Harris.

The West End transfer of the Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, starring Bill Irwin and Kathleen Turner, is currently playing at the Apollo Theatre through May 13th.
