Monday, February 23 at the Gershwin Theatre marks another momentous occasion for multi award-winning music master Marc Shaiman, with the Broadway premiere of his ‘Prop 8 - The Musical,' as a special part of the "Defying Inequality- The Broadway Concert, A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights." Shaiman is at right work right now on an all-new version of the internet sensation, (first created by FunnyOrDie.com and to date has logged over 3.5 million hits).

Marc Shaiman teases with "I have reached into the showbiz bible that is my phone book and....'Prop 8 - The Musical LIVE' will certainly have some new twists," Shaiman said this week. "Not only an appearance from the King of Broadway, but perhaps even from our Commander in Chief? Dare me to get him...Come and see if I do!"

Marc Shaiman has earned five Academy Award nominations, a Tony Award and a Grammy Award for his work on the musical Hairspray, and an Emmy Award for co-writing Billy Crystal's Academy Award hosting performances. He frequently works on films by Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner, and Trey Parker, and has also appeared on screen in many of these films.

Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert, A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, is a one-night only concert event at the Gershwin Theatre (222 W. 51st Street), on Monday, February 23rd at 8:00PM.
