MTC & Ars Nova Premiere Flahive's 'From Up Here,' Begins 3/27

Manhattan Theatre Club will present the world premiere of From Up Here, Liz Flahive's new American play. This production is presented in association with Ars Nova.

The production, to be directed by Leigh Silverman (Well, Yellowface), will begin previews Thursday, March 27 for a Wednesday, April 16 opening at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

From Up Here joins the Manhattan Theatre Club's 2007-2008 season, replacing the previously announced production of The Starry Messenger. The playwas initially developed at Ars Nova through the Out Loud play-reading series and in-house workshops.  Casting and design team for the production will be announced in the coming weeks.

Liz Flahive (Playwright) is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Dramatic Writing.  Her plays have been produced, workshopped or read at NYU, Williamstown Theater Festival, Naked Angels and Ars Nova.  Liz also volunteers with The 52nd Street Project, an organization that pairs inner city kids with professional theater artists to create original theater.

Leigh Silverman (Director). Recent credits include Lisa Kron's Well on Broadway and the West End production of Wit. Upcoming projects include the world premieres of Brooke Berman's Hunting and Gathering (Primary Stages) and Tanya Barfield's Of Equal Measure (Center Theatre Group). Her recent off-Broadway credits include David Henry Hwang's Yellowface (world premiere, co-production with Center Theatre Group and The Public Theater); Well (The Public Theater); Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (Second Stage Theatre); The Beebo Brinker Chronicles (world premiere, Hourglass Group); The Five Lesbian Brothers' Oedipus At Palm Springs (world premiere, New York Theatre Workshop); Tanya Barfield's Blue Door (Playwrights Horizons); Eve Ensler's The Treatment (world premiere, The Culture Project); Neena Beber's Jump/Cut (world premiere, Woolly Mammoth Theatre/Theater J and Women's Project); Big Times (world premiere, W.E.T.) and Finder's Fee (world premiere, Rattlestick Theater).
