Resilient Brain Productions has announced the world premiere of Nilsa Reyna's outrageous solo-comedy, Moyamoya Baby: A Trilogy of Strokes, Blood Flow, and F*ckboys at the Broadwater Theatre as part of Hollywood Fringe 2026. Directed by Daphnie Sicre, Moyamoya Baby is the culmination of a trio of plays inspired by Reyna's personal experience managing moyamoya disease, a rare cerebrovascular disorder. Part medical miracle, part dating disaster, and 100% reclamation, Moyamoya Baby is the "re-debut" of multi-hyphenate artist Nilsa Reyna. From the sudden silence of a stroke (Stroke Vagina: A Moyamoya Story), to a life-altering brain bypass at Stanford (The Bride of Moyamoya), Nilsa navigates the plasticity of a brain and the only way forward (Moyamoyapause and Me, or How Collecting F*ckboys Made it All Okay?).

Daphnie Sicre and Nilsa Reyna have collaborated on the moyamoya trilogy since 2019 when they connected on women's health, inclusive research, and health equity and access. Sicre says "

Through short stories and playful scenes, she steps into various characters to share her hilarious adventures, challenges, and path forward; revealing what it means to live with Moyamoya, from relationships to the complexities of intimacy. It's a deeply moving reflection on coping, patience, and understanding one's inner journey. She'll take you on a ride, where you'll laugh out loud one moment, and the next, will have you cherishing your health."

The Momamoya trilogy has been developed through The Playground Experience, Frank Silvera Writer's Workshop, Latinx Playwrights Circle, Primary Stages, The Road Theatre Company, Lone Star Theatre, Rising Sun Performance Co, Monarch Theatre, Fail Better Story Time, and Nuevalenos Writers Collective.

Playwright and performer Nilsa Reyna (she/her) is a third generation Mexican-American from South Texas. Co-founder of DIEZ Theatre Collective, the South Texas New Play Festival at South Texas College, she was part of the founding ensemble of Teatro Luna, and served as Founder/Artistic Director of Chicago Fusion Theatre. As a writer her work has also been produced by Intar Theatre. As a performer she's starred in Día de la Sirena (The SolProject/ Pregones/ PRTT); Re-Vitalized (Cimientos Play Development at IATI Theatre); Miss Irrelevant (The Theatre Collective); Indifference (John Chatterton/Midtown International Theatre Festival); Zapata! Tiger of Morelos (Moose Hall Theatre/Inwood Shakespeare Festival). Select Films: Scarlett and the Sea Creature, Limpia; Adulting; Runaway Overture. She is managed by Next Level Entertainment Gl Grp.

Moyamoya Baby: A Trilogy of Strokes, Blood Flow, and F*ckboys premieres at the Broadwater Theatre on June 9th at 11:00 pm with encore performances June 17th at 6:30 pm and June 29th at 10:00 pm.
