Wrong Number, a new musical comedy by Kait Kerrigan (book and lyrics) and Brian Lowdermilk (music and lyrics), will be presented at the 45th Street Theatre (345 West 45th Street) from September 19th through 28th as part of the 2nd Annual New York Musical Theatre Festival.

The work was commissioned and developed with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, partially through improvisation and partially through a written process. According to production notes, "The concept and script of Wrong Number was developed through a month-long improvisational workshop this summer, with director Brian Fountain and seven members of the UCBT improve troupe. An action-adventure musical, the show's path is determined each night by choices made by the audience. 'I really wanted to try and stimulate the creation of more new work – not just be reactive, but be proactively commissioning new musicals. I threw this idea out there, because I thought it was interesting to try and take writers out of their comfort zone. This time frame didn't give anyone the chance to second guess themselves. It gets musical theatre authors closer to the exhilaration of improv – trusting your instincts and letting fly,' said Kris Stewart, Executive Director for NYMF."

The Woman Upstairs, an earlier musical by Kerrigan and Lowdermilk, premiered at NYMF in 2004.

The cast comprises a combination of Broadway veterans and improv/sketch-comedy mainstays from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Featured are Brandon Wardell (Good Vibrations, Assassins, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Brittany Pixton (The Sound of Music- Nat'l tour), Todd Alan Johnson (Aida, Les Miserables, Newsical), and from the UBCT, Rebekka Johnson (MTV's "Boiling Points", Neutrino Video Projects - HBO Comedy Arts Festival, Killgore!, the musical), Ernest Privitera and Joe Wengert ((VH1 – A2Z, "My Kind Of Town" – ABC, "Instant Cinema"). Casting is by Michael Cassara, Lighting by Michael Salvas, and Steven Yuhasz produces for NYMF and UCBT.

The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre is the home for sketch, improv and standup comedy in NYC, presenting affordable, high quality shows seven nights a week. UCBT also runs one the largest and most respected improv schools in the country. Visit www.ubctheatre.com for more information.
