Lovely Day, Directed by Blair Brown, Begins Run Jan. 12

Presented by the Play Company and directed by Tony Award-winning actress Blair Brown, Leslie Ayvazian's play Lovely Day will run from January 12th through February 12th at off-Broadway's Samuel Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd St.).

The play
concerns a married couple played by Deirdre O'Connell (Manic Flight Reaction, Cave Dweller) and David Rasche (Getting and Spending, Speed the Plow), who on the day of their anniversary, learn that a military recruiter visited their son's school.  Javier Picayo (the films Little Fugitive, Mulberry Street), will also be also featured in the show, which will feature set design by David Korins, costumes by Michael Krass, lights by Paul Whitaker and sound by Darron L West.
 

Brown, who is making her directing debut, won a 2000 Tony Award for her performance in Copenhagen. Other Broadway credits include James Joyce's The Dead, Cabaret, Arcadia, The Secret Rapture and Threepenny Opera, while she has appeared off-Broadway in Humble Boy and The Comedy of Errors. Brown was also featured in the 2002 Sondheim Celebration production of A Little Night Music at the Kennedy Center. Screen credits include Dogville, Space Cowboys, Altered States and many TV movies and shows (including "ER" and "Ed").

Ayvazian, who recently appeared in A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, doubles as an actress and playwright. Her other plays include Nine Armenians and High Dive.
