Landmark Hassan Sharif Retrospective Presented by Sharjah Art Foundation Opens 10/4

Opening 4 November 2017 Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) presents the largest and most comprehensive retrospective to date of pioneering conceptual artist Hassan Sharif, often cited as the father of contemporary art in the UAE. Curated by SAF President and Director Hoor Al Qasimi, Hassan Sharif: I Am The Single Work Artist brings together over five decades of painting, sculpture, assemblage, installation, and photography to trace the development of the experimental multimedia practice that has made Sharif an enduring influence on contemporary art in the United Arab Emirates and internationally.

In addition to never-before-seen late works by Sharif, the entirety of Sharif's studio including his personal tools and raw materials, recently donated to SAF by the artist's estate, will be on view for the first time, providing new perspective on the artist's practice.
