Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble presents one of Mozart's last works. This stirring work - originally set in Imperial Rome after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius - now takes place in the guarded corners of an unnamed military dictatorship, but the concept of the dark dealings of political leaders altering the world stage is all too timely in any location.

Director Benjamin Spierman (associate artistic director of The Bronx Opera and member of the Genesis Repertory board of directors) has chosen to place this "grand" opera in an intimate setting to enhance the claustrophobic machinations of deceit and to spotlight the great character study this opera provides. Conductor Christopher Fecteau brings together a young talented ensemble of passionate players.

The cast features Richard Gillyard, Kirk Dougherty, Erika Rauer, Casey Cole, Grant Mech, Isaac Grier, Sarah Nelson Craft, Jocelyne O'Toole, Angela Baade, Nicole Zuraitis, Rosalie Sullivan, and Liat Hirsh

Since 2000, Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble has provided almost 200 singers with vital performance and role-preparation experiences. Through individual coaching, ensemble rehearsals, concert readings, and full performances, Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble provides emerging artists with valuable opportunities to hone their craft, make connections with leading industry professionals, and develop their knowledge of, and capacity to learn, the operatic repertoire. Dell'Arte performers are selected by audition and participate at no cost. Additionally, performances are offered to the public at low- or no cost. Maestro Christopher Fecteau is the Artistic Director of Dell'Arte, and his commitment to nurturing emerging artists and reaching new audiences for opera is evident in all aspects of this innovative company.
